ANYA is a quaint, all-round AntiGravity, yoga and pilates studio conveniently located in NoMad, perfect for a stretch after a good sweat at nearby studios like Mile High Run Club, Tone House or Row House, or before some lovely Italian food at the famous Eataly.
I tried their AntiGravity Decompression, Fundamentals and Flying fitness classes – all using the AntiGravity hammock but with different levels of exertion. Decompression is a relaxation based class, focusing on your breath, swinging in the hammock etc; Fundamentals integrates elements of their decompression, aerial yoga and flying fitness classes, so you can choose what you’re into and go from there. Flying fitness is more physically demanding – think pull ups, lower body and core exercises using the hammock. There were different inversion variations in every class but always starting with the basic spider man inversion.
Instructors Eryn and Sunny were very welcoming, hands on and experienced. They were also great teachers, very clear with their instructions (it can get confusing with more advanced postures!) so the classes flowed smoothly. Suitable for all levels too – although if you’re a complete beginner, taking the Fundamentals class is preferable. The studio attracts very friendly students – no pretentiousness or negative vibes.
