Despite the studio fitness boom in London, South London has been left relatively untouched (even though south of the river is clearly where it’s at?!) so many South Londoners rejoiced when Dog House opened in Balham.
I was invited to try their spin class by the lovely Ames, followed by treats from their in-house vegan and raw food cafe, Rawligion. Spinning at Doghouse is a cycle-to-the-beat kind of class, so no surprises here if you’re accustomed to Soul Cycle or Psycle, albeit slower choreography and at times confusing instructions (to the right apparently meant to the left?).
I preferred their boxing classes – taught by the notorious James Fisher (if you’ve tried his classes or bootcamps, you know) amongst others – think burpees after burpees, followed by demanding boxing combinations and conditioning drills.
The shakes and treats from Rawligion were absolutely delicious, so don’t forget to pre-order them before your class.
